Intel Dominates World Business News Yet Again
The Atom CE5300 media chip launched by Intel has put the company once again on the front page of world business news. This chip for smart TVs and set top boxes will allow the users to watch TV broadcasts, access the internet and even video conference. Intel had wound up its retail digital TV services last October and the launching of this new chip may help it to recapture the smart TV market again.
Intel's previous attempts of putting chips directly into the branded television sets failed due to a number of reasons. The customers did not consider the processor while buying TV sets and Google TV software was not ready for prime time. Intel had to move away for the while from retail TV sector and related world business news. CE5300 might prove to be an easier way for Intel to reach its target group.
The new chip will deliver HD video and gaming options, and provide routers and modems gateways to access internet services. Providers are also at liberty to use as media servers the set top boxes, and Intel will provide the required parts for that. World business news channels are expecting that Intel would face stiff competition in this aspect. Also, cost effectiveness is a major area of concern for Intel.
